"Concept Design II - Organic and Environmental Design"
This was a further exploration of the "Fruit-baring trees" brief from before. This time I wanted to see what kind of creature might feed on the succulent fruit of the umbrella tree.
This little guy, called an Ugallu, is no more than 2-feet tall.
Though his diet consists primarily of grubs and bugs, he does luck out from time to time when he stumbles across an Umbrella Tree in full-bloom.
Though most Ugallus have very dull fur, the nutrients and minerals in the Umbrella Tree's fruit lend the Ugallus a bright orange color.
It is easy to spy an Ugallu that has eaten a lot of Umbrella Tree fruit.
Photoshop: 2ish-hours for the creature

The sad thing being that someone could make something just like that in Spore in under 15 minutes.
