Concept Design II - Organic and Environments
Journal Entry: Tue Mar 25, 2008, 8:44 AM
This new work is from my second of three Concept Design classes.
This class deals with organic and creature design, as well as landscape and environment design.
As is the case with most of my design work, a lot of these drawings started off as pen/pencil on paper, and were then scanned or re-drawn to allow them to be painted digitally.
All of the work was done with speed and quantity in mind.

The reason that I haven't posted any work other than what I've done this summer alone, is because I've created this site for the purposes of posting my work from this summer for my professor to critique. The "class" is only taking place this summer and so I can only show her work that I've created this summer.
Also, I looked up the name Mobius, and I got a few results. Regardless of which Mobius you meant, I can see that was a compliment, and I appreciate it.
Keep up the good work yourself! Your graphical work is quite inspiring and is very reminiscent of work by a tattoo artist. Very cool!
I'm not sure why you'd make the limitation as far as only showing work from this year.
Your talent and imagination are evident.
You would, I am sure, be a welcome long term member to this site.
By all means, do whatever you feel neccesary to protect your imagery, but please consider continuing to share it with us here.
As far as my observations: Those works which are founded upon your original pencils were the most appealing to me. You have an interesting style. I find myself reminded of Mobius. If you do not know the name, google it along with the modifdiers: fantasy, illustration, and you will, I am sure, be surprised.
Your colors looks like watercolors. As if you perhaps used Dr. martin's or Windsor and Newton inks or dyes. It's a great effect. There is a lot of originality of style maintained despite the fact that the work is manipulated and colorized in a raster program.
Very impressive.
Considering the fact that you describe these as sketches (I personally believe some of this work is sufficiently finished to be used in game design/comic illustration etc., as is) I would love to see some of your more finished works.
Respectfully,
Darkmir

Glad to say that "keeping up with the joneses" no longer means it's time to go see my dealer...

I assure you, I can relate to how much work those "do it yourself" classes can be.
How goes the job search?
